How Many Drywall Sheets Do I Need?
Drywall sheets needed equals total surface area divided by the area of one sheet. A standard 4×8 ft sheet covers 32 sq ft. Measure all walls and ceilings, add them up, then divide by 32 (or by your sheet size). Add 10–15% for waste from cuts and breakage.
Use 4×12 ft sheets (48 sq ft) for fewer seams on long walls. 5/8 inch is often recommended for ceilings to reduce sag. Check local codes for fire-rated applications.
